Welcome to the GIN SAIGON Conference page!
This website will be updated weekly with the latest news and conference details. We have recently added information to the events pages, so check them out when you have a chance. If you have any questions about GIN Saigon 2014, please visit the appropriate page.
We would like to hear from you during the conference! In these last few weeks, we would like to put out an appeal to all students to consider sharing your voice during the conference. Remember that the unique feature of this conference is student voice, as this is a conference organized by students, for students. Students will have the opportunity to share and learn from one another about actions they are taking towards environmental or humanitarian issues in their own school communities. However, in order for this to happen we need students to sign up for these opportunities to share. For anyone that would like to give a TED style talk, give a musical or artistic performance, enter a video in the film festival and/or lead a student workshop, please sign up on the appropriate links found on this website. For schools that are new to GIN Saigon, please take a look at the information shared here. Phase two of registration is still open and has been extended to February 14th. At this point, the original limit of 15 students and 2 teachers has been lifted as we have plenty of places still available. Please note that it is now a first-come-first-serve basis. Finally be sure to check out the "Latest News" posted below for information on registering for student led workshops, student TED-style talks, the film festival and the service fair. We have asked them to please take a look at it and to let us know if there are any issues. For those workshops that have "N/A" as a description, we still need a short a short "blurb." You should note that there are only two workshop sessions and both are scheduled for Saturday. Please encourage students to check it out and follow up with any questions or issues.
Performers and Student Speakers

February 20th, 2014
Dear Saigon GIN Educators,
We are now counting down the days until the big event, with planning in hyper speed at this point. The students have done a wonderful job of making this truly a conference by students, for students. As the conference is now right around the corner, I wanted to share a few details with you.
Optional Evening Program
This year will be hosing a screening of the documentary, "Not My Life." We will begin this program shortly after Saturday evening's dinner and should conclude around 8:45 PM. For more information please visit either our GIN Sagion website or the film's official website (find info, fact sheets, educational toolkits, prom posters, etc).
Website and Facebook page
Our lead conference coordinator recently sent an email to all registered participants and she had about 30% of them returned as undeliverable. The main goal of this last email was to welcome students, introduce herself and promote the website (and facebook page. Could you please promote these in your communications and/or meetings with your students.
Registration and Payment
Each school should have recently received an email from our registrar and school liaison with a current (as of Sunday) list of participants. As noted in the email, please let them know if their are any mistakes or additions. You will receive an updated invoice from Ms. Phuong Anh if there were any changes from the one that was sent out last week. If you could please let her know how/when to expect payment, that would be a tremendous help. If there are any final additions, those can be paid in cash on the day of the event. Please do let Ms. Phuong Anh know if you have any questions or issues with payment.
Workshops
I would like to ask each school to encourage their students to host a student led workshop. At this point we are short workshops for the number of participants that we have registered (we are at about 250 right now). I realize that for most, you (your students) are planning on hosting a workshop but you have yet to register. As soon as you know your workshop topic (with a short blurb), please visit our website to register.
There will also be several workshops specifically for teachers that are interested. More information on those workshops will be available soon.
Presenters, Performers, Service Fair
We now have plenty of volunteers for both presenters and performers. We will be contacting those individuals next week to share information about where they are on the schedule. We hope to get more groups interested in signing up for the service fair, which is a great (easy) way to showcase their club. We will also have several local NGOs at the service fair as well, so this will be a great opportunity to learn more about these community organizations.
That is all from GIN Saigon. We look forward to hosting you soon.
Cheers,
Lisa Featherstone
